Sorry for the delay.... Winter Food comes about with winter weather...which unfortunately often brings winter sickness. So here we are on the other side of the coughing!
Nigel Slater's Winter Roots so delicious, earthy and creamy. Well worth a bake. Jerusalem Artichokes and Potatoes in this instance. The hardest thing was washing the artichokes.
Nigel Slater is such a wonderful writer, well worth a borrow from the library. Nigel Slater's Appetite is the book that we have, but the Slater Diaries are supposed to be fantastic for seasonal eating.
( Just looking for the recipe now, will update...)
Talking about winter food, despite the glorious weather today, we had a beautiful French Onion Soup tonight. Topped with roasted bread and cheese. What a beautiful way to use up the large fantastic onions from Hilbarn this week. Thanks Barn and Hillary.

Weather for Nigel Slater's Winter Food...
Well Hobart is certainly living up to its reputation, showers falling as snow around the mountain.
I am sure that West Hobart is around the mountain!
So time to try my Hilbarn recipe suggestion for this week:
Nigel Slater's Winter Roots and Lemon Roast
I will let you know how it goes. Now to override the timers on the heaters... They have to stay on!
PS Hilbarn is our Fresh Fruit and Veg box that we have delivered each week. So wonderful, fresh seasonal Tasmanian Produce, yum.

The Early Evening
